South Table PARK Running Routes

Ancient Palms Basalt Cap Loop

Open:  1 Hour before sunrise -

1 hour after sunset

Mileage: 4.08

Elevation Gain: 429

Lot's of love for Ancient Palms Trail here at GMR HQ.  A smooth, steady 1 mile climb gets you to the top of the mesa.  Then basalt cap loop acts like a 1.5 mile crusher fines track with views!  Take the climb easy and do speed work up top.  Or run the climb hard and use the loop for recovery. Or you know, do what feels right for you.  This is your trail time!

Camp George Lava Loop Lollipop

Open:  1 Hour before sunrise -

1 hour after sunset

Mileage: 6.93

Elevation Gain: 613

Another great run if you want a little elevation gain, the joy of running on trail as opposed to pavement, but also want to run kind of fast.

Beware:  Lava Loop is closed February, 1 - July, 31 annually.  If you are running during that time frame please respect the closure and alter this route.

Coda to Castle Rock

Open:  1 Hour before sunrise -

1 hour after sunset

Mileage: 6.24

Elevation Gain: 536

A little run through the neighborhood gets you to some great trail.  When you get to Castle Rock you will enjoy one of the most iconic views in Golden!  Turn around and its a casual downhill back to Coda Brewing!

Mountain Toad to Castle Rock

Open:  1 Hour before sunrise -

1 hour after sunset

Mileage: 4.53

Elevation Gain: 670

This is a steeper, shorter way to access Castle Rock than the Coda Route above.  Pick your poison on the route and your brewery.  Either way take a moment to enjoy the view from Castle Rock.  When you are done with the run do yourself a favor and look up some of Castle rocks history.  Some of it is great!  Some of it is decidedly not great.  But the rock is iconic and its history is worth understanding.
